From humble beginnings out of a spare bedroom in South Texas, we have taken pride in providing a new alternative for those who prefer a different take on the status-quo. We don't believe that, as a western brand, our designs have to lag behind trends in other markets like athletic, surf & street. We design with the philosophy that we not only have the ability to keep pace with these markets, but we should also seize any opportunity to lead them.

Hooey founder Joey Austin wanted to give western kids access to a more progressive brand that represented their passion and interests. After returning home from California to Texas in 2009, Joey launched Hooey with just two hat designs. The term 'hooey' refers to the knot a cowboy uses to finish tying a calf's legs together in tie-down roping rodeos.

Authenticity is what makes Hooey a strong brand—the Hooey team is still involved in rodeo and western sports on a daily basis. We don't just believe in marketing this lifestyle, we live this lifestyle.
