HOOey, a brand founded with the goal of giving western kids access to a more progressive brand that represented their passion and interests, was launched in 2009 by Joey Austin with just two hat designs after he returned home from California to Texas.

The term 'hooey' refers to the knot a cowboy uses to finish tying a calf's legs together in tie-down roping rodeos. What makes Hooey a strong brand is its authenticity - the Hooey team is still involved in rodeo and western sports on a daily basis, living the lifestyle they market.
