We don't believe that, as a western brand, our designs have to lag behind trends in other markets like athletic, surf & street. We design with the philosophy that we not only have the ability to keep pace with these markets, but we should also seize any opportunity to lead them.

Hooey was founded by Joey Austin, who wanted to give Western youth access to a more progressive brand that represented their passions and interests. After returning home from California to Texas in 2009, Joey launched Hooey with just two hat designs.

The term "hooey" refers to the knot a cowboy uses to finish tying a calf's legs together in tie-down roping rodeos. Hooey has stayed true to this Western heritage, with the brand team still actively involved in rodeo and Western sports on a daily basis. Authenticity is a core part of the Hooey brand - they don't just market the Western lifestyle, they live it.
